ECO FURNITURE FOR BRADFORD ON AVON TOWN COUNCIL

Award winning Wiltshire based ecological furniture maker Trannon has been selected by Bradford on Avon Town Council to furnish their newly refurbished conference and reception areas.

TRANNON WINS SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS AWARD

Wiltshire base ecological furniture makers has been awarded a Sustainable Business Award by Bath based organisation Envolve. Open to businesses in the SW, the award encourages ecological firms to showcase their efforts in reducing energy and waste, as well as increasing social responsibilities.

INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF GARDENS AT WESTONBURT

Both press and public will be able to experience Trannon's furniture at Westonburt's 2003 Festival of Gardens from 6 June 2003. Once again furnishing a super elegant Roderick James/Carpenter Oak timber and glass building, Trannon's selection perfectly compliments this amazing building. And for next year, Trannon's David Colwell will be a keynote speaker at Westonburt's Chairs 2004 International Symposium.

FORESTRY COMMISSION SELECTS ECO FURNITURE

Trannon has been commissioned to furnish the Forestry Commission's chief executive office in Wales. Based on their Cardiff range, originally designed for the National Museum of Wales, parts of the chairs are made from ash thinnings out of the forestry commission's own Welsh woodlands.

TRANNON FURNISHES SHOWHOUSE AT IDEAL HOME SHOW

For the third year in a row, Trannon has been selected to furnish Homelodge's show lodge at the Daily Mail Ideal Home Exhibition. To show its potential as a desirable home office in the garden, it is fitted with a bespoke version of their Library Shelving and Glass Round Meeting Table.

CONTOUR JOINS VITRA DESIGN COLECTION

One of the last re-run of David Colwell's perspex Contour Chair has been acquired by the Vitra Design Museum in Germany, one of the most studied chir collections in the world. Prof Winfried Scheuer of Stugart University heralded the Contour as "Far more radical then anything I saw at the Milan Fair in the last 5 years."

TRANNON DESKING FOR ECOLOGICAL ARCHITECTURE

Trannon will be launching a new range of ecological contract desking by Roy Tam with emphasis on 'soft edge' design, the furniture opposite to 'power dressing'. Trannon's desking will not only be made with leading ecological low energy thinking, but is also designed to enhance ecological architecture, and help ecological companies fit out their workplace as a showcase for leading-edge people-friendly design.

TRANNON WINS GUILD OF MASTER CRAFTSMAN'S AWARD, AGAIN!

Robert Ingram and Colin Eden Eadon, editor of Cabinet Making magazine were among the judges of the WoodWorking Competition at the annual Aximinster Power Tool show in Somerset. Trannon has been in the top three winners in the past 3 events, sponsored by the Guild of Master Craftsmen.

TRANNON AWARDED PRESTIGIOUS SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT COMMISSION

David Colwell's fluid design for their reception area was selected amongst top designers shortlisted by the architect and parliament committee. In line with David's local sustainable ethos, the first task is to secure local Scottish oak and sycamore to be seasoned. Not only is Colwell's design a perfect fit for the organic lines by the late architect Enric Miralles, it also provides user friendly treatment for the latest IT facilities as well as dedicated wheelchair access.

DESIGN NATION ADDS 28 NEWLY SELECTED DESIGNERS

Architects, interior designers, manufacturers and buyers are being invited to the launch of the Design-Nation website on 26 Sept at 100% Design. Six of the 28 newly selected designers will be exhibiting at 100% Ð furniture by Trannon, lighting by Diffuse and CJ OÕNeill, computer-generated tiles by Dominic Crinson, architectural glass by Kate Maestri and interior accessories by Lauren Moriarty.

WOODLAND ARTS WEEK

In aid of St Margaret's Yeovil Hospice, a 'Woodland' themed mixed media selling exhibition will be held at The Meeting House, Ilminster 24-28 Sept 2002 with well known artists such as Lucy Willis, Chris Chapman, Michael Vincent, George Hider, Serena De La Hay, Nicky Clarke, Heather Hughes, Peter Epps, Hugh Sowden, Richard Vale, Howard Pratt, Trannon and many more. St Margaret's uses Trannon's Chairs at their Taunton Hospice.

PEOPLE FRIENDLY SEATING FOR BRISTOL'S ECO CENTRE

Trannon's chairs has been selected by Bristol City Council's CREATE Eco-Centre to provide better seating for older and less abled users. Research in conjunction with Design Age at the Helen Hamyln Research Centre means that the C9 is designed to help users get in and out easily. "Most importantly, they do not look like old people's chairs." Other projects include Richard Stilgoe's Orpheus Centre for disabled musicians.

TRANNON DESIGNS FOR SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT

Trannon is among 4 other nationally renowed furniture designers to be shortlisted to propose designs for the New Scottish Parliament Reception. David Colwell hopes to combine their pioneering ecological approach, with strong emphasis on user friendly features to win the judges' over. Trannon's other major customers include the Crafts Council, National Trust, Royal Fine Art Commission for Scotland, Natural History Museum, National Museum of Wales and Southern Arts.

DUKE OF EDINBURGH OPENS LEICESTER CATHEDRAL'S ECO-FURNISHED RESTAURANT

Trannon has just successfully installed restaurant furniture for the new Leicester Cathedral extension which was opened by the Duke of Edinburgh. Trannon's classic C3 Stacking Chairs, which have been purchased by the V&A museum collection, were specified to embrace the cathedral's commitment to good design. To eliminate rocking on their slightly evenstone floor, Trannon also made special cafe versions of their 3 legged Round Tables in solid oak.

STUDENTS SHOW 'OFF-CUTS' SCHOOL BENCH

Students at Sherborne's Gryphon School designed and made two full size benches for their playground under the Design Council's Designers in Schools Week. Local designer Roy Tam not only set the brief but also provided off-cuts from their commission for Leicester Cathedral. "It is my ambition that more products are made using our workshop's surplus." The students hope to re-group and run the project as a model business throughout their 6th Form.

International delegates attending the UK's Business Week Eco-showcase at the 2002 World Summit have generated possibilities of joint work with firms in Johannesberg.

SCIENCE MUSEUM 'MUSICAL CHAIRS' EXHIBITION VISITS PORTUGAL EXPO

The 'Ergonomic Chairs' touring exhibition curated by the Science Museum in London is on its 3rd stop at the Expo Centre in Portugal. Visitors are encouraged to try out different chairs and access the different approaches which designers use to tackle comfort, ergonomics and posture. Trannon's C10 Springback Chair is there to support.

SPOTLIGHT ON TRANNON AT ENGLISH NATURE'S "IN PRAISE OF TREES" CONFERENCE

Trannon's award winning ecological philosophy provided a stimulating case study for English Nature's In Praise of Trees conference during this year's Salisbury Festival. During David Colwell's illustrated talk, delegates were able to try the chairs to experience their legendary comfort.

MODERN INTO CLASSIC WILL GO: NATIONAL TRUST HOSTS TRANNON EXHIBITION

The National Trust's Mompesson House hosts the first event for this year's Salisbury Festival with a show curated to highlight how well contemporary furniture can blend with a classic interior. Internationally renowned curator Annette Ratousniak selected six designs from Trannon and expertly placed them among the house's treasures. Response was so good that Mompesson extended the exhibition till Nov 2002.

UNIQUE MOTHER & DAUGHTER TABLES FOR DILLINGTON HOUSE

Somerset County Council's Dillington House has transformed another meeting room into a flexible conference facility. Key to the room's flexibility are modular conference tables which can link together like no other tables. The tables are made up of 'mother' and 'daughter' units which can be jointed in different shapes. Project managed by Roy Tam, "Dillington was very clear with what they needed, and David and I invented the right solution for them."

V&A CLASSIC FURNISHES WINCHESTER THEATRE ROYAL

Solid oak tables and steam bent stacking chairs by Trannon has been used throughout the public areas of the newly refurbished Winchester Theatre Royal. Trannon specially designed two meeting tables which can be transformed into separate cafe tables during evening performances. The C3 Stacking Chairs are design classics, and has been long term favourites at Southern Art's conference facilities nearby.

CANON CHOOSES TRANNON TO FURNISH BIBLE COLLEGE

Sarum College in Salisbury's famous cathedral close have selected Trannon to help them relax and socialise in their newly refurbished common room.

ART GALLERY VISITOR RELAX WITH TRANNON

Visitors at the newly refurbished Wolverhampton Art Gallery will be able to relax on seating by Trannon. This follows their successful reception seating commission at the Wolverhamptom Grand Theatre, where comfort, style and user friendliness are of equal importance.

WESSEX WATER CHOOSES ECO FURNITURE FOR THEIR NEW HQ

Rain water toilet flush and automatic corridor dimming goes hand in hand with Trannon's ecological furniture at Wessex Water's award winning headquarters. In addition to reception tables and executive sideboards by Roy Tam, Trannon's folding Solo tables were selected to furnish their visitors centre. The Solo range is so named because it has built-in wheels and needs only one person to move.


1997
DURASSIC BENCHES MADE BY TRANNON

Roy Tam of Trannon successfuly delivered 45 solid maple benches and warder's stools on schedule for the Waterhouse and Earth Galleries at the Natural History Museum. Virtually all the seating under the dinossaur skeletons in the famous entrance lobby is made by Trannon.
